You Brush Every Day.
So Why Are Your Gums Still Bleeding?

The problem usually isn't how often you brush. It's the 45° gap you're missing.

The Real Problem

Most people brush wrong. Nobody ever corrected them.

The sulcus, the tiny groove where gum meets tooth, is where bacteria accumulate most. Standard back-and-forth scrubbing misses it entirely. Plaque builds up, starts hardening within 48 hours3, and gingivitis follows, even if you brush twice a day.

The Fix

The Bass Method in 5 steps

It comes down to technique. A 45° tilt that most people have never been taught.

01
Angle at 45° to the gumline
Most people hold their brush flat. Neither 0° nor 90° reaches the sulcus.
02
Half on gum, half on tooth
Bristles across the gumline, not above or below, so tips enter the sulcus gently.
03
Short strokes only, a few mm
Vibrate, don't sweep. Small strokes keep bristle tips inside the sulcus.
04
10–15 strokes per surface
Front, back, chewing surface, each one. Most people rush and miss entire sections.
05
2 minutes, twice a day. Soft bristles recommended.
For the Bass technique, softer bristles let the tips flex into the sulcus without irritating the tissue.

The Modified Bass Method outperformed both the Fones (circular) and horizontal techniques for plaque removal in young adults.

Built Around This Principle

NEOS II Ultra does the Bass technique automatically.

Sonic vibration and ultra-soft bristles replicate the Bass technique at the gumline. The built-in water flosser covers the gaps between teeth. One device, both covered.
